Born in South Africa in 1950, married with 4 children. Graduate of the
Universities of Pretoria and Cape Town South Africa. Registered specialist in
Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine.
Fellow of the Faculty of Anaesthesiology, College of Medicine of South Africa
since 1980 and Master of Philosophy in Critical Care Medicine from 1990,
University of Cape Town. Previously Principal Specialist, Principal Lecturer
and co-director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit of the Departments of
Medicine and Anaesthesiology, University of Cape Town.
Currently Director: Medical Intensive Care Unit, Department of Medicine,
Hadassah Medical Organization and Clinical Senior lecturer of the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem. Associate Editor of the Southern African Journal of
Critical Care and Past Editorial Board member of Current Opinion in Pulmonology
and Current Opinion in Critical Care. ATLS and ACLS Instructor since 1992.
Professor Linton is an internationally acknowledged expert in air ambulance
transport of critically ill patients. Professor Linton is an Instrument Rated
Commercial Pilot with more than 1,300 hours. In 1997 he organized the
first Dedicated Air Ambulance service in the Middle East.
